| Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults |
| The RCIA is a faith journey for those interested in becoming members of the Catholic Church. It applies to those who are not baptized, are baptized into another religion, or are baptized Catholics who have not received either the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. RCIA is not a program, but a sacramental process wherein a person seeks an understanding of the faith, conversion to Christ and initiation into the church and the community. RCIA is an opportunity for exploring the richness of the Catholic Church, its belief, traditions and practices. The RCIA process is also adapted for children over seven and younger teens who have not been baptized. New members are accepted at any time of the year. |
| Perhaps you know of someone who would like to become Catholic.Many converts will tell you that they became interested in the Catholic faith through their friends. Approach someone you know who wishes to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation or would like to join our community. Our RCIA coordinator will contact them to answer their questions and invite them to join us. You may even want to walk with someone during this process as a sponsor. A sponsor acts as the candidate's personal link to the community and as a friendly companion with whom the candidate can talk. The sponsor is a trusted guide, walking with the candidate on their journey to full initiation into Christ and the Church. Sponsors must be confirmed, practicing Catholics who are open to growth in their personal faith, are willing to share their own faith journey, and can attend scheduled sessions. Contact the parish office if you would like more information about becoming a member of the Church or a RCIA sponsor. The RCIA process starts whenever you are ready! |
